Vietnam Floods and Landslides Leave 43 Dead

 

Severe flooding and landslides triggered by days of heavy rain in central Vietnam have killed 43 people, with nine still missing, according to the Vietnam Disaster and Levee Management Agency.

More than 67,700 homes and 13,000 hectares of farmland were flooded, while over 30,000 cattle and livestock were lost. Economic damage is estimated at over 3 trillion dong (about $120 million).

A suspension bridge in Lam Dong province collapsed into the Da Nhim River after being swept away by strong floodwaters. No casualties were reported.
