An explosion occurred at 05:17 local time on the Nohoch Alfa oil platform belonging to the Mexican state oil company PEMEX, located in the Gulf of Mexico, 80 kilometers off the coast of the Mexican state of Campeche. Six people were injured at the scene, and three or four workers were reported missing. The fire was responded with several fire-fighting ships. Over 300 workers on the platform were evacuated by boats. Search and rescue efforts continue in the area.
