A cannonball accidentally fired from a warship belonging to the Thai Navy at Sattahip Naval Base in Chonburi province of Thailand at around 11.50 local time, hit another warship named HTMS Khirirat at the base. Thirteen soldiers were injured, two of them seriously, in the fire that broke out on the damaged ship. An investigation was launched into the incident.
The HTMS Chonburi ship, where the cannonball was fired, was reported to have returned to the base from an exercise last night, and its ammunition was not unloaded.
