A new tension rising move came from the Greek Populated Southern Part of Cyprus. In cooperation with the Orthodox Church and the Greek National Guard, and upon the special invitation of Brigade Commander of the Greek Cypriot National Guard Brigadier General Lucas Hatzimichael, the priests summoned to weapon training in Southern Cyprus. The priests those who summoned have trained with heavy weaponry. After the priests’ training videos were spread on social media, the Greek people reacted to the priests’ cooperation with the Greek army. Upon the reactions, the Greek administration made a statement that “it is a planned exercise carried out in the context of cooperation of the Greek army with the local church”.
