A forest fire broke out last Sunday in the countryside of the city of Ribas De Sil in the Galicia Autonomous Region in northwest Spain. The fire, burned more than 1,500 hectares of forest, was brought under control two days later. The Spanish army supported the firefighters by sending 49 crews, 8 planes and 14 helicopters to extinguish the fire. Three highways in the region were closed due to the fire, and railway transportation was suspended. An official stated that they detected a source of flame at several points simultaneously in the forest area just before the fire, and stated that the fire was started deliberately.
The 2025 Caner Gönyeli Search and Rescue Exercise ended with a sea drill off Gazimağusa, Northern Cyprus. In a scenario involving a migrant-carrying yacht and a cargo ship collision, Turkish and TRNC teams launched immediate rescue operations. Survivors were saved by helicopter and boats; a fire set by migrants was extinguished. The final scenario simulated a tanker collision, ending with a salute by participating air and sea units.
