The fire that started on Monday in the region of Dervenochoria, around 30 kilometers north of Athens, is still burning. Due to strong winds, the fire spread to Mandra in the Attica region on Tuesday, destroying homes and forcing many residents to flee.
More than 50,000 hectares of forest on Evia Island had burned, accounting for over 15% of the island’s total surface area.
