Wildfires Destroy Almost Half of Canadian Mountain Town Alberta

Approximately 30 to 50 percent of the structures in the Canadian tourist town of Jasper, including Jasper National Park, a historical church, and many vehicles, have been reduced to ashes due to the ongoing wildfire, reported Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. There will be a serious rebuilding process in the region, she added. Firefighting continues in 173 different locations in the province of Alberta.

Meanwhile, 218 of the 407 active fires in British Columbia have not yet been brought under control and it is feared that the flames will reach the Trans Mountain Pipeline, which has the potential to carry 890 thousand barrels of oil per day.
