Heavy rains caused flooding in Apache Junction, Arizona, USA. During the disaster police were called to help Sue Teders, who was trapped in her vehicle with her dog. The police, who broke the window to save Teders managed to get the woman out. In a statement made by the Apache Junction Police Department, “We regret that we were not able to save the dog while removing the driver from the vehicle. In the last moments, the family continued to search for the dog.”
At least 18 people were injured when two passenger trains collided on a suburban line between Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava, and the nearby town of Pezinok. The injured were taken to four hospitals under Bratislava University Hospital.
Authorities said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and Slovak Railways has launched an inquiry. The incident follows another train accident in eastern Slovakia last month that injured 20 people.
