The Langone Health Medical Center at New York University (NYU) in the US performed the world’s first-ever fully robotic double lung transplant surgery on October 22. Following the successful operation, in which small incisions were made between the patient’s ribs and both lungs were removed using a robotic system, 57-year-old COPD patient Cheryl Mehrkar has regained her health and will soon be discharged from the hospital.
Hundreds of thousands of Muslims visiting Saudi Arabia for Hajj are now arriving in Medina after completing the pilgrimage rituals in Mecca. Pilgrims travel 575 kilometers to Medina to offer prayers and visit the Prophet Muhammad’s tomb. Many perform 40 sunnah prayers at Al-Masjid an-Nabawi and visit sacred sites such as Rawda-i Mutahhara, Uhud Martyrs’ Cemetery, Baqi Cemetery, and Quba Mosque. Pilgrims greet the Prophet daily through the Babüsselam gate, following the hadith promising intercession for visitors to his grave. Departures from Medina will continue until July 10 for pilgrims from Türkiye.
