111 films to be displayed in 35th Tokyo international film festival

After 2 years of suspension due to Covid-19 pandemic, the 35th edition of one of the biggest film festivals in Asia, Tokyo International Film Festival, started with the opening ceremony that was held yesterday at Takarazuka Theatre. The festival will host 111 films and 15 films selected from among 1,695 works from 107 countries and regions will be competing for the ¥3,000,000 grand prize. Three films from Japanese productions “By the window”, “Egoist” and “Mountain Woman”  are drawing attention at the festival.

“Film has the power to restore hope and joy to those impacted by COVID,” said Fumio Kishida, the Prime Minister of Tokyo, adding that he is happy that enthusiasts can enjoy such a rich film experience in Tokyo

“Our theme this year is Leaping Forward, and over the next 10 days, we will screen many films and hold a variety of events.” said Hiroyasu Ando, the festival chairman.
