2 firefighters died in the forest fire in Mexico

The fight against the forest fire that started on May 1 in the forest area near the Mexican city of Zacazonapan continues. Local authorities reported that 2 firefighters lost their lives and 1 firefighter was injured in the fire extinguishing efforts. Mexico State Forestry Protection Agency (Probosque) announced that 50 personnel were sent to the scene for the fire extinguishing efforts, but firefighters had difficulty in responding to the fire due to the strong winds. Probosque stated that the ongoing fire in the forest area has been brought under control. Authorities announced that 2 firefighters lost their lives as a result of being caught in the flames that spread rapidly with the effect of the wind.

In addition to that, Mexico State officials stated that 821 forest fires have broken out throughout the state since the beginning of this year, and 5,877 hectares of land have been turned to ash in the fires.
