“2022 Tourism Capital Sari” program and a festival held in tourism capital Sari

In Sari city of Iran’s Mazandaran province, which was selected as the “tourism capital” of 2022 at the meeting held in Tajikistani capital city of Dushanbe on 26 July 2021 by the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), “2022 Tourism Capital Sari” program was organized between May 9 and 12. Iranian Culture and Tourism Minister Ezzatollah Zarghami, the Iranian ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and representatives from the Turkish and Azerbaijani embassies attended the program. Speaking at the program, the Secretary General of the Organization of Economic Cooperation Khusrav Noziri stated that they aim to revive tourism among the member countries of the Organization of Economic Cooperation, with which they have cultural and historical ties.

In his speech during the program, Zarghami stated that they want to facilitate border crossings, including land borders, between ECO member countries. “We want to make tourism as cheap and easy as possible. As ECO countries, we are neighboring countries and our land borders are open to each other. Therefore, visa-free travel between ECO countries is possible,” Zarghami said.
