Floods and Landslides Kill 4 in South Korea

 

Torrential rains in central South Korea have triggered deadly floods and landslides, leaving 4 people dead and 1 missing. Over 5,192 residents from 3,413 households have been evacuated to safer areas.

The most affected regions include Chungcheong and Gyeonggi provinces. Two deaths were reported in South Chungcheong, and one person went missing in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, after river levels surged.

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, at least 772 public and private structures have been damaged. Agricultural lands were submerged, ferry services were halted on two lines, and seven train routes were partially suspended.

The Korean Meteorological Administration warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue until Saturday.
