37 million Turkish Liras worth illegal goods and narcotics seized in Turkey

In the risk analyzes carried out at the Kapıkule Customs Gate located in Edirne city of Turkey, by the Edirne Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, vehicles that suspected of being used in drug smuggling were first checked with an x-ray scanning device and then with narcotic detector dogs. In the serial operations carried out by the Turkish Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams at the Kapıkule Customs Gate, 73 kilograms of narcotic substances, medications and thousands of commercial products such as glasses, electronic cigarettes, macarons, smart watches and auto spare parts that were hidden in the secret compartments of suspicious vehicles were seized.

Officials stated that teams were seized narcotics, including ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana. According the officials, narcotics and goods that have seized by the teams during the operations have a value of approximately 37 million Turkish Liras. Meanwhile, it’s been stated that 11 people were detained in the Customs Enforcement teams’ drug operations in Kapıkule in the last month.
