Thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank flocked to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the early morning hours to perform the first Friday prayer of Ramadan. According to Israeli police, 40,000 people entered the mosque.
Israel only allows entry to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the West Bank only for men aged 55 and over and women aged over 50.
