The fourth edition of the Marathon Izmir, held in Izmir, Türkiye, was run this year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Thirty elite athletes from 23 countries and 5,000 people from all over the country participated in the marathon and the May 19 Road Run that started afterwards. Ethiopian Sheware Alene Amare was the first woman, and Kenyan Benard Kipkorir was the first man to finish the 42 kilometers and 195 meters route, which is the fastest in the country.
