Spain’s National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) announced that the country is experiencing its hottest spring season this year since 1961, when record-keeping began. According to their data, the average temperature this spring reached 14.2 degrees, which is 2 degrees above the seasonal norm. AEMET Spokesperson Ruben del Campo stated that the heatwave until the end of April caused a severe drought, but it began to alleviate with rainfall in mid-May. However, Campo emphasized that the drought problem will persist in the long term, and the upcoming summer weather will be extremely hot.
