A fire broke out in a building where around 200 people live in Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city. Johannesburg Emergency Management Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi reported that 73 people died and 52 were injured, adding that the search and rescue efforts are continuing. Mulaudzi stated that the number of dead may increase.
Mulaudzi said the building was occupied by homeless people who settled without any lease agreement.
