After Israel called on Palestinians living in the north of the Gaza Strip to move to the south, Gazans began leaving their neighborhoods. While some packed their belongings into their cars, others left their homes on foot. Despite the bombardment, those who had no other place to go, remained in the city. Meanwhile, Hamas issued a countercall on Gaza residents not to leave their homes.
United Nations (UN) Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that the consequences of the migration of a population of 1.1 million would be devastating.
