The United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that more than 2 million people living in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has cut off water, electricity, and food supplies due to conflicts, are struggling with water scarcity. UNRWA said residents of the Gaza Strip drink contaminated water, increasing the risk of water-borne diseases.
Stating that this situation has turned into a matter of life and death, UNRWA General Commissioner Philippe Lazzarini said that water must be provided to Palestinians urgently.
