In Germany, the first anniversary of the February 6, 2023 earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş was solemnly observed, honoring those who lost their lives. A commemorative event took place in front of Cologne’s historic Dom Cathedral, featuring a 15-person choir led by Aynur Cronauer, which performed a 15-minute concert. Hikmet Karakaplan, a survivor of the Hatay earthquake, also participated in the choir. Cronauer expressed the ongoing pain a year after the significant disaster, emphasizing the importance of the event in remembering and raising awareness to prevent future calamities. The commemoration served as a heartfelt gesture from the Turkish community in Germany, underscoring their enduring connection to their homeland.
