Speaking alongside Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong ahead of the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference, Macron criticized Israel’s ongoing blockade and military offensive in the Gaza Strip. “The blockade is leading to an unsustainable situation on the ground,” he said. “If the humanitarian situation is not addressed in the coming hours and days, we must toughen our collective stance even more.”
Macron also said France may impose sanctions on Israeli settlers and urged the Israeli government to change its approach. He reaffirmed France’s support for a two-state solution and stated, “Recognizing the state of Palestine is not only a moral duty, but also a political necessity.”
