The influx of desert dust and heat waves from Africa is causing health issues, particularly for children and the elderly, in Türkiye. Experts advise wearing masks and keeping windows closed to minimize exposure. The capital of Greece, Athens, experienced an orange haze due to this dust, while Istanbul also feels the negative impact. The General Directorate of Meteorology warns about the dust’s transport, originating from Libya and entering Türkiye via Tekirdağ, affecting the western region for an estimated three more days.
The forest fire that began in İzmir’s Aliağa district and spread to Foça has been brought under control after intense aerial and ground efforts. A second fire in Bozköy, which started near industrial facilities, also threatened residential areas, prompting evacuations.
