Azerbaijan held a national Carpet Festival in its capital, Baku, as part of the efforts to introduce its rich cultural heritage to the world. The festival, where carpets by various weaving masters were exhibited, attracted great attention even though it was organized for the first time.
“Carpet art has improved a lot in Azerbaijan. Such festivals are great source of pride for us. In this way, we can show the world that we have been continuing the art of carpet weaving since ancient times,” said Azade Mammadova, President of the Azerbaijan Skilled Hands World People’s Union.
The festival, which also aims to transfer Azerbaijan’s UNESCO-listed carpet weaving tradition to future generations, will be open until May 5.
