A devastating fire at Gaem Hospital in Resht, Gilan province, Iran, has left nine dead and 15 injured. The blaze, which began around 01:15 local time, required extensive efforts from firefighters to extinguish. Mohammad Tagi Ashubi, President of Gilan University of Medical Sciences, reported that 142 patients were in the 250-bed facility, including 33 in intensive care. Following the fire, 118 patients were safely transferred to nearby hospitals. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
