A 129-ton Geumseong fishing boat carrying 27 crew members, 11 of whom were foreign nationals, sank off the coast of Jeju Island in South Korea at around 04:30 local time today.
Search and rescue teams arrived at the scene after the crew called for help and rescued 15 people, 2 of whom were unconscious, and took them to the hospital. Authorities added that 2 people in critical condition died in the hospital and that the search for 12 missing crew members is ongoing.
The rescued crew said that the boat suddenly capsized for an unknown reason while the fish caught were being transferred to another boat.
