Lebanese civilians who were displaced due to Israeli attacks have begun returning to their homes in the south of the country, forming long lines of vehicles, after the ceasefire agreement between the two countries came into effect at 4 a.m. local time.
The Lebanese army called on civilians not to return to “villages along the front line” until the Israeli army withdraws.
As part of the ceasefire agreement, all arms sales, procurement and production in Lebanon will be under the control of the Lebanese government; any unlicensed infrastructure or military sites will be destroyed and illegal weapons will be confiscated; Lebanon will deploy its own security forces along the border in line with the agreed security plan; Israel will gradually withdraw its forces beyond the Blue Line within 60 days; and Lebanon’s official security forces will be the only group authorized to carry weapons and conduct operations in the country.
