Life has returned to normal in Umayyad Square, the site of the Syrian General Staff in Damascus, following Israeli airstrikes.
The area, which had been closed to traffic and saw widespread panic during the attacks, is now bustling with vehicles and pedestrians. Some civilians gathered near the damaged buildings out of curiosity.
Ali Bakranlı said, “Israel attacked here two or three times yesterday. There were injuries and deaths. We’ve seen many attacks before, we’ll get through this too.”
Muhammed Yeser noted damage to the country’s largest library in Umayyad Square, saying, “Israel’s attack was absolutely wrong. Syrians have just emerged from war, and we’ve experienced many wars before.”
