At London’s Royal Albert Hall, Israeli conductor Ilan Volkov used his BBC Proms appearance with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Volkov said the war was “horrific and unimaginably horrific,” adding, “Israelis, Jews and Palestinians. We are not able to stop this alone. I ask you, I beg you to stop this madness.”
While most of the audience applauded, some reacted negatively. Volkov defended his remarks, saying politics is part of daily life, and urged governments and individuals to act: “We cannot let this go on any longer.”
