Global Sumud Flotilla Continues Voyage to Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying activists from nearly 50 countries to break the Israeli blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, continues its journey across the Mediterranean. Mustafa Çakmakçı, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s Future Party and a passenger on the flotilla, gave an update in an online discussion.

Çakmakçı said they are on their 13th day at sea and around 200 kilometers into the latest leg of the trip, noting, “We are continuing our journey in the middle of the Mediterranean towards Gaza.” He added that they expect about one week of travel before reaching their destination.

Highlighting the mission’s importance, Çakmakçı said, “This may be humanity’s last chance. It’s a crucial opportunity that should not be missed. We expect support from our government, the UN, and others.”

He also pointed out the diverse participation on board, including Irish MP Chris Bey and French actor Frank Bey, the owner of the earlier Handala aid ship. “I wish we had 100 ships, not 50,” Çakmakçı said, stressing Gaza’s urgent need for aid.
