The Freedom Flotilla Coalition said Israeli forces intercepted its 11 aid ships about 120 nautical miles (222 km) from Gaza. The flotilla, carrying humanitarian supplies to break the Israeli blockade, lost most live broadcasts as Israeli soldiers reportedly boarded two vessels. Footage showed navy boats surrounding the ships as activists donned life jackets. Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the intervention, calling it a “failed attempt to breach the legal blockade,” and said all passengers would be deported soon.
