Former South Korean President Yoon Sentenced To Prison

Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been sentenced to five years in prison for obstructing justice and other crimes linked to his attempt to declare martial law. The Seoul Central District Court ruled that Yoon ordered the Presidential Security Service to block an arrest warrant issued in January 2025 and violated legal procedures required for martial law. Judge Baek Dae-hyun said Yoon acted for personal interests, undermining the rule of law, and showed no remorse despite having no prior criminal record. The case marks the first concluded trial against Yoon related to the martial law process.
