Ancient Medusa Mosaic Reopens to Visitors in Türkiye

The globally unique Medusa Mosaic, an exquisite Late Roman masterpiece housed in the ancient city of Kibyra, in Türkiye’s Burdur, has officially reopened to the public. Following the harsh winter months, expert restorers carefully removed protective coverings within the 3,600-seat odeon so the artwork can be viewed until late November 2026. Adding to the historical site’s vibrant revival, fresh water is once again flowing from its original ancient source into the monumental Tholos Nymphaion fountain. Excavation director Prof. Dr. Şükrü Özüdoğru confirmed the seasonal uncovering of the mosaics at the site, which currently sits on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
