Century-Lost Yunus Emre Manuscripts Displayed in Berlin

After being considered lost for nearly a century, rare manuscripts by Yunus Emre, a foundational figure in Turkish Sufism, have been exhibited for the first time in Germany. The highly anticipated event, co-hosted by the Yunus Emre Institute and the Berlin State Library, unveiled the historic “Raif Yelkenci” and “Ritter” texts to an audience of scholars and international dignitaries. These newly recovered literary treasures are a major highlight within the library’s vast Oriental collection, which ranks among Europe’s most significant with over 43,000 historical documents. Library officials revealed that these priceless Ottoman Turkish works were originally acquired through a renowned manuscript dealer decades ago, finally bringing a vital piece of global literary history back into the public eye.
