Torrential rains sweeping across central and southern China have triggered widespread flooding, claiming the lives of at least ten people. The severe weather has prompted mass evacuations, forced schools and businesses to close, and severely disrupted transportation and power grids across multiple provinces. In the hard-hit city of Jingzhou, Hubei province, knee-deep floodwaters completely submerged vehicles and left residents remarkably catching fish in the middle of the streets. As the China Meteorological Administration warns of ongoing risks from flash floods and water inundations, local authorities have launched urgent emergency response efforts to aid the impacted communities.
