US Strikes Third Commercial Vessel This Week

The United States said it struck the Guinea-Bissau-flagged tanker M/T Jalveer in the Gulf of Oman after accusing it of attempting to transport Iranian oil in violation of a US-imposed blockade. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the vessel failed to comply with instructions, prompting a US aircraft to fire two Hellfire missiles at its engine room on June 10.

The US military stated that since launching its blockade on vessels traveling to and from Iran on April 13, it has neutralized nine ships, redirected 135 others and allowed the passage of 42 humanitarian aid vessels through the region.
