Seaplane Makes Hard Landing in NYC’s East River

A Kodiak 100 seaplane flying over New York City made a hard landing in the East River after declaring an emergency around noon local time. The aircraft, which had departed from Long Island, suffered a broken wing strut upon impact, triggering an immediate response from local rescue teams. The New York Fire Department (FDNY) swiftly secured the scene and safely evacuated all eight people on board, including the two pilots. While two individuals sustained minor injuries during the rough landing, no fatalities were reported, and the aircraft was successfully towed to a nearby dock. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has since launched a detailed investigation to determine exactly what caused the sudden emergency.
