Millions of mourners poured into the streets of Tehran as the massive funeral procession for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and four of his family members got underway. Following their deaths in US and Israeli attacks on February 28, the vehicle carrying their bodies slowly departed from the Grand Musalla Mosque to navigate through the dense, grieving crowds. Local media reports indicate the procession is set to follow an extensive 10-kilometer route through the heart of the capital toward Mehrabad International Airport. Highlighting the immense scale of the multi-day mourning event, state television channel Press TV reported that “organizers expect the parade to last 10 to 12 hours.”
