Kazakhstan Battles Multiple Forest Fires

Sweltering summer heat has sparked 19 separate forest fires across Kazakhstan, threatening key protected areas including Bayanaul, the country’s first national park. The blazes have scorched approximately 20,000 square meters of land throughout the Semey and Ertis state forests in the Abay Region. Initial investigations suggest lightning strikes ignited the fires, prompting emergency crews to deploy helicopters and heavy machinery to combat the flames. According to local authorities, aggressive containment efforts are currently underway “to prevent the fires from spreading to wider areas and to extinguish them completely.”
