Greece Defends €3 Billion Missile Deal With Israel

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis fiercely defended a monumental €3 billion air and missile defense agreement with Israel, calling it vital for the nation’s security. Speaking in parliament, Georgiadis praised the newly signed “Achilles Shield” deal, declaring, “Our alliance with Israel guarantees the freedom of the Greek state against threats from Türikiye or elsewhere.” Pushing back against domestic critics who argued the funds should go to healthcare, he dismissed leftist anti-Israel protests as “buffoonery” and insisted the strategic military partnership serves only the interests of the Greek people. The historic agreement, which is Greece’s largest with Israel to date, will see advanced interceptor systems like “David’s Sling” become fully operational within 35 months.
