A clash happened after Israeli forces attacked Palestinian youth that gathered at the Damascus Gate area of Israeli occupied Jerusalem. The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that 19 Palestinians were injured and 10 were arrested in the clashes. Local press stated that Israeli forces have used rubber bullets and tear gas against the Palestinians during the incident. Also it was reported that the attack was carried out in order to disrupt the religious gatherings organized by the people of Jerusalem and those who come to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque at the Damascus Gate square in the month of Ramadan every year.

TDT Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliyev praised Sancar for his scientific achievements and cultural contributions to the Turkic world. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated Sancar at the ceremony.
Calling the award “an honor,” Sancar thanked Erdoğan for his nomination and Hungary for hosting the summit, recalling his childhood admiration for Hungarian football.
