Violence broke out in Buenos Aires as retirees, unions, and football fans protested President Javier Milei’s austerity policies and demanded higher pensions. Clashes with police left many injured near the Congress building.
Lawmakers failed to pass bills supporting pension hikes, with 133 absent during the vote. While opposition figures called the situation “unacceptable,” Milei’s government maintains that limited resources and the need for economic recovery prevent immediate increases.
