The heat wave in Spain brought temperatures to record levels. During the intense air temperatures, firefighters in different parts of Spain are making intense efforts to control forest fires. While forest fires in Catalonia are still uncontrollable, flames are also spreading in Zamora, close to the Portuguese border, in the Castile and Leon region. The local government of Castile and Leon said in a statement that it was a difficult night and a lot of work was being carried out. It was emphasized that approximately 20 thousand hectares of land in the Sierra de la Culebra mountain range in the same region has turned to ash so far and the fire is still continuing. Firefighters trying to control the fire in Baldomar in Catalonia stated that Saturday will be difficult due to “very high temperatures and strong winds”. The fight against the flames continues on the outskirts of the village of Caudiel in Castellon in eastern Spain. Firefighters wearing masks, goggles and helmets are working hard to control the fires. Crews are helping to evacuate residents who have left their homes with dogs and horses. On the other hand, no one killed or injured in the fires so far.
