Alert due to extreme heat in France

Air temperatures are expected to rise above 40 degrees in France. Paris Municipality announced that the parks and gardens in the city will remain open until midnight against the extreme heat wave. While devices that spray refreshing water are placed in the city squares in Paris, which is on the list of cities with orange alert by the French General Directorate of Meteorology, the government has put a special phone number into service to be called in case of danger. The Municipality of Paris also offered the fountains at all drinkable water points in the city to the service of the residents. Due to the expected extreme heat in France, 12 cities were put on a red alert, while an orange alert was declared in 25 cities. People in Paris flocked to the poolside opposite the Eiffel Tower and to the Seine River to cool off due to the rising temperatures. The French Ministry of National Education announced that primary and secondary school students in the provinces that are on red alert aren’t obliged to go to school. In addition, the government announced that an aid package of 500 million euros was prepared for local governments to take precautions against extreme heat.
