The German government has approved energy-saving measures taken to reduce dependence on Russian natural gas and due to the reduced supply of naural gas from Russia. Accordingly, as of September 1, public buildings (excluding social institutions such as hospitals) will be heated to a maximum of 19 degrees, and the heating in the corridors in service buildings will be completely turned off. Buildings and sculptures will also no longer be illuminated for aesthetic purposes.
With these measures, the German government hopes to cut natural gas consumption by about 2%.
