Paris’ landmarks are darkened earlier to save energy

The energy crisis continues after Russia cut off gas to some European countries that imposed sanctions on Moscow for its attacks on Ukraine. As part of the austerity steps in France, the lights in the symbolic locations of the capital Paris, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysee and the pyramid in front of the Louvre Museum are turned off 1 hour and 15 minutes earlier as part of energy savings.

Municipalities state that in the energy savings that started in October in public buildings, a 9 percent saving was achieved by turning off the lights at the end of the working hours.
