A dragon boat race was carried out in Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires, to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on Jan. 22 this year. The traditional Chinese sport, which Argentinians deeply embrace for its competitive and collaborative nature, also strengthens the cultural bond between China and Argentina.
“I admire the tradition of Chinese culture in general because it is not easy to maintain the customs for so long. And the truth is that they are very traditional and very good,” said participant Mauricio Kluge.
Former boat team coach Carolina Beron added, “The sport is not only attractive in itself, but it takes you back to the historical period when our ancestors began to do this, and that fact is also attractive.”
