Sculptures of Lucius Verus, Attis, Apollon, Cephea, duver terracotta plate and 4 columned sarcophagi were returned to Türkiye. They were illegally smuggled from Türkiye’s ancient cities to the USA in the 1970s. After the ceremony held at the Antalya Museum Directorate in November, the artifacts were opened for exhibition.
The two most notable works of art were the human-sized bronze statue of the Roman Emperor Lucius Verus and the four-piece columned sarcophagus from the Roman Period in the Ancient City of Perge in Antalya. The statue of Verus is one of the rare human-sized bronze statues that have endured to the present day. Additionally, 166,000 local and foreign tourists visited the museum in 2022.
