A group of climate activists called “Ultima Generazione” (The Last Generation) have called for an end to government support for fossil fuels by pouring diluted coal into the Fountain of Love, preserved since the 18th century, in Rome, Italy. Saying that the protest was carried out due to the deadly floods in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, the protesters held up a banner reading “We will not pay for fuel” and chanted “Our country is dying”. Tourists in the surrounding area reacted strongly to the activists, who were intervened with by the police.
