Egyptian and Israeli intelligence agencies have reportedly agreed to place the Gaza side of the Rafah Border Crossing under the administration of the Palestinian Authority (PA), according to Asharq Al-Awsat. The deal, brokered during meetings involving Israel’s Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar, MOSSAD Chief David Barnea, and Egypt’s General Intelligence Head Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, includes international oversight by the United Nations.
Discussions on the Philadelphi Corridor, a key border area between Gaza and Egypt, remain unresolved, with differences labeled “technical” by sources. Egypt has rejected Israel’s proposal for partial withdrawals, insisting on a complete return to pre-war conditions. No timeline has been set for reopening the crossing.
